Alhaj Sheikh Md Altaf Hossain joined the Navy as an officer cadet in 1981 and was commissioned in 1983 and retired in 2011. During his working life, he served as the
Commanding Officer of various ships and bases of the Navy and Coast Guard and as Deputy Director at the naval headquarters. Currently he is involved in humanitarian work.
